About these pages
Fish of every shape and size: a fancy goldfish with bubbles, a betta fish with flowing fins, a swordfish leaping with its long bill, striped tropical and reef fish, a flat fish with big eyes and a whale swimming with small fish. Mermaids appear too, with a mermaid princess holding two fish and a crowned mermaid swimming with four. Learning pages include F is for fish, X is for x-ray fish and a colour-by-number fish over waves.
Of the 26 pages, 7 are easy, with a single smiling fish and thick lines for ages two to four, 14 are for ages four to eight, and 5 detailed pages suit older kids. A mosasaurus swimming with fish crosses over with dinosaurs, and a cat in a raincoat holding a fish adds a funny twist. For whales, octopuses and crabs, see the ocean animal pages, or the mermaid pages for more underwater scenes.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
How do I make fish scales look good?
Colour the whole fish in a light shade first, then add a darker curve along the edge of each scale. Bright orange, yellow and blue suit tropical fish, and a betta fish looks good with deep red or purple fins.
Are there fish pages for teaching letters?
Yes. F is for fish, the letter F with a frog and a fish, and X is for x-ray fish all pair a letter with a picture, which suits preschool letter and phonics work.
How do fish breathe underwater?
Through gills on the sides of their heads. Water flows in through the mouth and out over the gills, which take oxygen from the water. On most fish pages, the curved line behind the eye is the gill cover.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
