About these pages

Sharks with friendly grins fill this collection: a shark holding a starfish, a hammerhead carrying an anchor, a round baby shark with huge eyes and a cool shark in sunglasses on the beach. Several pages show smiling sharks swimming and gliding through the water, and others show real species, such as a great white leaping from a wave and a spotted whale shark with tiny fish swimming alongside.

8 of the 14 pages are easy, with simple shapes and thick outlines for ages two to four, and 5 are for ages four to eight. Older kids and adults can try the shark covered in swirl patterns above a coral reef. Grey, blue and white are the classic colours, but a pink or striped shark is just as much fun. For more sea life, see the ocean pages and the fish pages.

Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.

Questions

Which shark pages suit toddlers?

Use the "Easy" filter for the 8 easy pages. Each shows one smiling shark with thick outlines and big spaces that are easy to fill with a chunky crayon.

Is a whale shark really a shark?

Yes. The whale shark is the largest fish in the world, growing to around 12 metres long, yet it feeds on plankton and small fish. It is grey-blue with pale spots, so leave the spots white.

Why does a hammerhead have such a strange head?

Its wide, flat head has an eye at each end, which gives it a broader view as it swims and helps it find food. On the page, colour the head and body in the same grey so it reads as one shape.

Can I print on A4 paper?

Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
