About these pages

Turtles on land and at sea: a sea turtle swimming with spotted flippers, a sea turtle with a patchy shell, a happy turtle walking through flowers, a turtle sheltering under an umbrella, a smiling turtle among flowers and clouds, a turtle sitting among bubbles and a smiling tortoise walking along. A "What am I?" page asks children to guess the animal from its shape before they colour it.

5 of the 14 pages are easy, with thick outlines and a big shell to fill, for ages two to four, and 9 are for ages four to eight. Letter pages include T is for turtle tracing, the letter T with a train and a turtle, and a big letter T, plus a colour-by-letter turtle on a rock. For more sea creatures, see the ocean animal pages or the fish pages.

Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.

Questions

What is the difference between a turtle and a tortoise?

Tortoises live on land and have high, domed shells and sturdy legs. Sea turtles live in the ocean and have flatter shells and flippers for swimming. Both kinds appear in this collection.

How can children colour a turtle shell?

Give each section of the shell its own colour, or use two greens and alternate them like a chequerboard. For a sea turtle, try brown and gold sections with lighter edges.

Which turtle pages help with letters?

T is for turtle tracing, the letter T with a train and a turtle, and the big letter T page all link the letter to its sound. The colour-by-letter turtle adds letter recognition practice.

Can I print on A4 paper?

Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
