About these pages
Wreaths for three seasons. Christmas brings a pine wreath with ribbon and berries, a holly wreath with three lit candles, a wreath on a snowy barn door, a front door with a wreath and garland, and a forest stag wearing a holly wreath. Autumn wreaths are made from sunflowers and wheat, oak leaves with acorns and berries, and leaves with pinecones. For Remembrance there is a wreath of poppies and laurel, a round poppy wreath with a bow and a girl placing a wreath on a memorial stone.
8 of the 21 pages are for ages four to eight, and 13 detailed pages suit older kids and adults. Colour the leaves first in two or three greens, and save the berries, bows and flowers for last so they stand out. Cut a finished wreath out and hang it on a classroom window. For more, see the Christmas pages, the poppy pages and the leaf pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
Why do people hang wreaths on the door?
A ring has no beginning or end, so wreaths of evergreens have long stood for life lasting through winter. Hanging one on the front door at Christmas welcomes visitors, and harvest wreaths of wheat and leaves do the same in autumn.
What is a laurel wreath?
In ancient Greece and Rome, wreaths of laurel, or bay, leaves were given to winners and heroes as a mark of honour. Laurel still appears on medals and memorials, which is why several remembrance wreaths here combine laurel with poppies.
Which wreath pages suit younger children?
Start with the pages for ages four to eight, such as the holly wreath with three candles, the reindeer wearing a leafy wreath collar and the round poppy wreath, have bolder outlines and bigger spaces.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
