Lion Coloring Pages
12 free printable pages, gathered from themes across the site. Every page downloads as a crisp PDF in Letter or A4. Updated October 7, 2026.
About these pages
Lions and lion cubs: a lion sitting on the savanna, a lion with a full mane, a lion cub sitting with a fluffy mane, a big-eyed lion cub, a lion sleeping under a big tree and, for a bit of fun, a lion in a suit downtown. Two pages pair an angular lion with a koala chewing leaves, which makes a good talking point about animals from different continents.
3 of the 12 pages are easy, with thick lines for ages two to four, and 8 are for ages four to eight. The detailed page of a lion sleeping under a tree suits older children and adults. Four pages are for letter practice: L is for lion tracing, the letter L with a lion and a lemon, a big letter L and L is for fluffy maned lion. For more safari animals, see the elephant pages and the animal pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
How do I colour a lion's mane?
Use two or three shades: yellow or gold near the face, then orange and brown towards the outside. Short strokes in the direction of the hair make the mane look thick and fluffy.
Do all lions have manes?
No. Only adult male lions grow a full mane, which starts growing at around one year old. Lionesses have no mane, so a lion without one on these pages can be coloured as a lioness.
Where do lions live?
Most wild lions live on the grasslands and savannas of Africa. They are the only big cats that live in groups, called prides, and the lionesses usually hunt together.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
