About these pages
Elephants walking, bathing and playing: an elephant and calf bathing in a river, an elephant sitting on the savanna, one standing between flower bushes, a baby elephant with a curled trunk and a big-eared baby facing forward. There is an elephant with jungle animal friends, a decorated elephant with a patterned blanket, a baby elephant carrying a lantern for Diwali, and an elephant facing a charging rhino.
4 of the 16 pages are easy, with one big elephant and thick lines for ages two to four, and 11 are for ages four to eight. E is for elephant and the letter E with an eggplant and an elephant help with letter sounds, and a "What am I?" page asks children to guess the animal first. For giraffes, zebras and lions, see the animal pages, or the Diwali pages for lamps, rangoli and festival scenes.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
What colours should an elephant be?
Grey is the natural choice: try a light grey all over with darker grey in the wrinkles and under the ears. The decorated elephant pages look best with bright reds, golds and greens on the blanket.
What is the difference between African and Asian elephants?
African elephants have much larger ears, shaped a little like the map of Africa, while Asian elephants have smaller, rounder ears. Children can compare the ears on different pages.
How do elephants use their trunks?
An elephant's trunk is its nose and upper lip joined together. It uses it to breathe, smell, pick up food, suck up water to drink and spray water over its back, just like the elephants bathing in the river.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
