Bug and Insect Coloring Pages
56 free printable pages, gathered from themes across the site. Every page downloads as a crisp PDF in Letter or A4. Updated October 8, 2026.
About these pages
A whole garden of small creatures: ladybugs, bees, ants, a striped beetle, a dragonfly with a long striped tail, a grasshopper with long antennae, a mosquito, a smiling spider with eight bent legs and snails with swirly shells. Butterflies make up a large part of the collection, from a moon moth to monarchs resting on marigolds, and there are colour-by-number bees and a paint-by-number butterfly.
14 of the 56 pages are easy, with one smiling bug and thick lines for ages two to four, 24 are for ages four to eight, and 18 detailed pages, mostly patterned butterflies, suit older kids and adults. The pages fit a minibeast topic in the classroom, and a "What am I?" ant page makes a good guessing game. For just butterflies, see the butterfly pages, or the bee pages for hives and honey.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
Is a spider an insect?
No. Insects have six legs and three body parts, while spiders have eight legs and two body parts. Snails are not insects either. Counting the legs on each page is a quick way to sort them.
Which bug pages suit toddlers?
Use the "Easy" filter for the 14 easy pages, such as a big-eyed ladybug standing up and a smiling snail with a swirly shell. Each has one creature and thick outlines.
How can I use these for a minibeast hunt?
Print a few pages, take them outside and tick off each creature you find in the garden or playground. Back inside, children colour the ones they spotted and talk about where each one lives.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
