About these pages
Bees busy in the garden: a bee flying near a hanging hive, a bee carrying a honey pot, a striped bee among garden flowers, a striped bee flying sideways, two bees flying toward each other and a big smiling bee in flight. Some pages share the space with other bugs, such as smiling bee, butterfly and grasshopper friends, a cartoon bee with butterflies in a flower patch, and butterflies and bees in a wildflower meadow.
Of the 12 pages, 3 are easy, with one bee and thick lines for ages two to four, and 8 are for ages four to eight. The wildflower meadow is the detailed one, with plenty to colour for older children. Two colour-by-number bees and a count the coloured bees sheet make good maths warm-ups. For the rest of the minibeasts, see the bug and insect pages, and for garden scenes, the flower pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
What colours should a bee be?
Yellow and black stripes are the classic look, with clear or pale blue wings. For a honeybee, try golden brown and dark brown stripes instead of bright yellow, and colour the honey pot amber.
How do bees make honey?
Bees collect sweet nectar from flowers and carry it back to the hive. There they store it in wax cells and fan it with their wings until most of the water dries out and it thickens into honey.
How can I use bee pages in a lesson?
Bees fit spring, plant and minibeast topics. Talk about how bees carry pollen from flower to flower, then use the count the coloured bees sheet for simple counting practice.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
