About these pages
Pets at home and outdoors: a puppy sitting by its dog house, a fancy goldfish swimming with bubbles, a round fluffy hamster and a kitten resting on a sunny cushion. A kitten peeks over a teacup rim, another yawns widely, and a girl walks a fluffy puppy. Holiday pages show a kitten tangled in Christmas lights, a hamster in a Santa hat on a present, a dog pulling a kitten on a sled and a kitten touching a big dreidel, and letter pages pair C with a cat and D with a dog.
There are 22 easy pages with thick outlines for ages two to four, 23 for ages four to eight and 1 detailed for older kids and adults, including a thin-line kitten sketch. Children often want to colour their own pet, so keep a photo nearby and copy its markings. For more, see the cat pages, the dog and puppy pages and the alphabet pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
How can children copy their own pet's markings?
Look at a photo together and spot the patches, stripes or white socks. Colour the main coat first, then add the markings on top in a darker shade. The tabby kitten pages are good practice for stripes.
How long do hamsters live?
Usually about two to three years. Syrian hamsters, the kind most often kept as pets, are nocturnal, so they sleep through the day and are busiest in the evening and at night.
Do goldfish really have a three-second memory?
No. Studies have shown that goldfish can remember things for months, and they can be trained to respond to sounds or lights at feeding time.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
