About these pages
Owls perched just about everywhere: on a branch at night, among roses, in a flower pot, on bare branches and beneath a crescent moon. There is a great horned owl, a snowy owl gripping a bare branch, a spotted owl standing upright, a fluffy owlet with huge eyes and two bookish owls, one wearing glasses and holding books and the other reading. A letter O page pairs an owl with an octopus, and a "What am I?" page shows a tufted owl.
There are 3 easy owls with thick outlines for ages two to four, 18 pages for ages four to eight, and 9 detailed pages, like a layered-feather owl and a patterned owl on a branch, for older kids and adults. Owls fit autumn and Halloween displays well, so the fall pages and Halloween pages make good companions, or see every bird together on the bird pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
Which owl pages suit a reading corner?
The owl wearing glasses and holding books and the bespectacled owl reading a book are favourites for reading weeks, library displays and homemade bookmarks.
How do I colour owl feathers?
Work in rows: colour each row of feathers in two or three browns, lighter at the top and darker underneath. Make the eyes stand out with yellow or orange around a black centre.
Can owls really turn their heads all the way round?
Not quite. An owl can turn its head about 270 degrees, three quarters of a circle. It needs to, because its eyes are fixed in place and cannot move from side to side like ours.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
