About these pages

Friendly dinosaurs with round bodies and big smiles. There is a baby T-Rex standing and smiling, a kawaii T-Rex waving, a big T-Rex head with a toothy grin, a stegosaurus with big back plates and two long neck dinosaurs, one holding a balloon. Little scenes show a baby dinosaur hatching from a cracked egg, one sleeping on its tummy, one munching a green leaf and one splashing in a puddle. Design Your Own pages for a T-Rex and a stegosaurus leave the patterns to the child, and one spotted dinosaur comes with a colour example.

All 20 pages are easy, for ages two to four, with wide spaces a chunky crayon can fill even in a fist grip. Any colours will do, since nobody knows the real colours of most dinosaurs. The egg with a zigzag crack is one big shape and makes a good first page. For older fans, see the dinosaur pages, the T-Rex pages and the easy animal pages.

Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.

Questions

What did a stegosaurus use its back plates for?

Scientists are not certain. The plates may have helped stegosaurs recognise each other or made them look bigger to predators. The spikes on the tail were for defence, and a fossil Allosaurus bone has a wound that matches one.

What did long neck dinosaurs eat?

Plants. Long-necked sauropods such as Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus were plant eaters, using their necks to reach leaves high in trees or to graze over a wide area without moving their huge bodies much.

How can dinosaur pages help in a preschool class?

Use them for counting and shape talk: count the spots on the spotted dinosaurs, find the triangles along the stegosaurus's back, and compare big and small with the long neck dinosaur and the baby hatching from its egg.

Can I print on A4 paper?

Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
