About these pages
Race cars drawn in fine, detailed line: a vintage open-wheel racer with its engine exposed, a formula car with a layered front wing, a classic race car with the number five and a vintage race car numbered one hundred and sixteen. Cars corner at speed with dark shading, drift trailing speed streaks and race past a grandstand. One race car speeds through a mountain landscape, another is seen from above the nose, and a taxi cab is parked in a city square.
All 41 pages are detailed, with grooved tyres, suspension arms and motion lines that take patience. Fine liners or sharp coloured pencils help in the small spaces, and a page can take an evening or two. Leave thin white strips on the bodywork for shine. For more, see the race car pages, the car pages and the adult coloring pages.
Each design is its own page with a Letter and an A4 PDF, a description, and related pages, so you can print one sheet or a whole set.
Questions
Why do race cars have wings?
Race car wings work like an aeroplane wing turned upside down. Instead of lifting the car, they push it down onto the track, giving the tyres more grip so the car can take corners faster.
What colours were old race cars painted?
In early international racing, cars wore national colours: green for Britain, red for Italy, blue for France and white or silver for Germany. British racing green and Italian red suit the vintage pages well.
How do I make a car look shiny?
Leave a few narrow strips of paper white where light would hit the bodywork, then colour darker towards the lower edges. Black tyres look better with grey on the tread so the grooves still show.
Can I print on A4 paper?
Yes. Every page has a Letter and an A4 version. Pick the one that matches your printer.
