Colouring ideas

Shade the pointed petals in scarlet with deeper crimson near the base. Tiny golden beads in the centre and layered dark green leaves with lighter veins complete the bloom.

Did you know?

The red parts of a poinsettia are not petals but coloured leaves called bracts, and the real flowers are the tiny yellow buds in the middle.

Try this

Blend two reds on each petal and leave a thin unshaded line along the vein to suggest a highlight.
