How to Print Coloring Pages From a Phone or iPad
Put your phone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi network as your printer, open the coloring page, tap Print now (or open the PDF and choose Share, then Print), pick your printer and tap Print. iPhones and iPads print through AirPrint, and Android phones use their built-in print service or Mopria. No printer? Save the PDF and print it at a library, a print shop or on another computer.
What do you need to print from a phone?
Three things, and most homes already have them:
- A printer that supports wireless printing. iPhones and iPads need an AirPrint printer; Android phones work with Mopria-certified printers or through the printer maker's own print plugin.
- The phone and the printer on the same Wi-Fi network. Apple and the Mopria Alliance both list this as a requirement.
- Paper in the tray: US Letter or A4.
Each page on the site has a Print now button, a Download PDF button for US Letter and for A4, and a 300 dpi PNG. The PDFs are vector files with half-inch margins already set, so they are the best choice when you print from a file.
How do I print a coloring page from an iPhone or iPad?
AirPrint is built in, so there is nothing to install (Apple).
- Check that the iPhone or iPad and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the coloring page in Safari or your usual browser and tap Print now. To print from a file instead, tap Download PDF for the paper size you have and open the PDF.
- If you opened the PDF, tap the Share button and choose Print. If you don't see Print, swipe up.
- Tap No Printer Selected and choose your AirPrint printer.
- Set the number of copies and the pages, then tap Print.
Downloaded PDFs are usually saved to the Downloads folder in the Files app, so you can print them again later without the website. To check or cancel a print job, open the App Switcher and tap Print Center.
How do I print a coloring page from an Android phone or tablet?
Printing is built into Android. The Mopria Alliance says you can print without installing anything, and that its Mopria Print Service app, free on Google Play, adds options if your device can't print yet (Mopria Alliance).
- Connect the phone to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open the coloring page and tap Print now, or tap Download PDF and open the file.
- In the PDF viewer, open the Share or three-dot menu and choose Print.
- Choose your printer from the list at the top of the print screen.
- Check the paper size matches the paper in the tray, then tap the print button.
If your printer doesn't appear, open Settings and search for Printing. Make sure the default print service is turned on, or add a print service such as the Mopria Print Service or your printer maker's plugin. Menu names vary between phone makers and Android versions.
How do I print from a Chromebook?
Open the PDF or the coloring page and press Ctrl + P. Open the Destination menu, choose See more, pick your printer and select Print.
Google says the printer and Chromebook must be on the same network. If your printer isn't listed, add it under Printers and scanners in Settings (Google Chromebook Help).
How can I print coloring pages without a printer?
Download the PDF first, then use one of these:
- A public library. Many libraries offer printing for a small charge; ask staff how to send a file from your phone.
- A print shop or copy centre. Show the PDF on your phone or ask how they accept files.
- Another computer. Email the PDF to yourself, or to a friend or relative with a printer, and print it there.
- No printing at all. Color it online lets you colour on the screen, then save a PNG or print later. Your colourings stay on your device under My colourings.
When printing somewhere else, ask for black-and-white, single-sided, at actual size on Letter or A4 to match the file you chose.
Why won't my coloring page print from my phone?
Most problems come from the network, the print service or a paper size mismatch.
- Printer not listed: check both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, not mobile data or a guest network. Wake the printer, wait a minute, then try again. Restart the phone and printer if it still doesn't show.
- No Print option: not every app supports printing. Open the PDF in the Files app, your browser or a PDF viewer instead.
- Edges cut off: the paper size in the print options doesn't match your paper. Choose Letter or A4 to match, and use the matching PDF.
- Buttons or website text on the printout: you printed the browser tab. Use Print now or print the PDF.
- Faint or broken lines: draft or eco mode is on. Use normal quality, especially for Detailed pages with fine lines.
- Android finds no printers at all: check a print service is turned on in Settings, or install the Mopria Print Service.

Questions
Is the PDF or the PNG better for printing from a phone?
The PDF. It is a vector file sized for US Letter or A4 with half-inch margins, so lines stay sharp and the drawing fits the sheet. The 300 dpi PNG is handy for viewing or colouring in another app.
Do I need to install an app to print from my phone?
Usually not. iPhones and iPads use AirPrint, and Android has printing built in. Install the Mopria Print Service or your printer maker's plugin only if your printer doesn't appear.
Can I print several copies for a class from my phone?
Yes. Set the number of copies in the print options. Pages are free for classroom use; see the page for teachers.
Can I print a page I coloured online?
Yes. Color it online has its own print button, and you can also save the finished picture as a PNG and print it like any image.
